About Coyote Conscience

We are a wilderness school located in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho, dedicated to providing programs that deepen nature connection for children and the community. Our mission is to create a world where children can explore wild places, play with others, and discover the beauty all around them, including within themselves.

At our wilderness school, we draw inspiration from other wilderness and nature schools, especially those that practice Coyote Mentoring and 8 Shields. Our goal is to create a fun and meaningful experience in the great outdoors, where children can learn from their surroundings and build strong relationships with one another. We believe that connecting with nature is essential for personal growth and the development of a regenerative culture.

We are proud to be First Aid and CPR certified, ensuring that your children are safe and well taken care of during their time with us. Join us on this exciting journey of nature connection and discovery. We can't wait to see what adventures await!

Maria Anderson

Lead Instructor and Executive Director

Maria grew up in the tropical island of Puerto Rico snorkeling the Caribbean, racing hermit crabs and chasing rainbows. She graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in International Relations. She is passionate about cultures and education. She has extensively travelled North America, South America, Asia and the Caribbean including living abroad in Chile and Japan. While teaching Marine Science Camps in the Florida Keys and San Diego, she fell in love with Montessori students. This led her to be a Montessori teacher for 15 years. As an outdoor educator she longed for stronger relationships with her students. As a Montessori teacher, she longed for more time outside. Now, she is excited to combine her two passions by creating a nature-based culture as she learns with her students about the Boise River Basin.

Maria is also a Positive Discipline Trainer and is in the process to become an Idaho Master Naturalist.
